Decking

Decking boards’ provide the opportunity to continue your timber floor out on to your outdoor entertainment area.  As with flooring, we mainly source Australian species in two different grades; select and standard and better.  The most common and popular species are Blackbutt, Forest Reds, Spotted Gum and Ironbark.

Ironbark
  • Janka Rating – 13Kn
  • Grading – Standard / Select
  • Colour – Grey/Red
  • Sizes available – 86x19, 130x19, 135x19
  • Description – Ironbark is an extremely hard species. The colour varies from pale to rich reds to light browns and greys. The grain is usually interlocked with a texture that is moderately coarse.
Blackbutt
  • Janka Rating – 9.1Kn
  • Grading – Standard and Better / Select
  • Colour – Blonde
  • Sizes available – 86x19, 130x19, 135x19
  • Description – Blackbutt is a common hardwood that varies in its colouring from cream to pale brown, sometimes with a slight pink tinge. Blackbutt usually has a straight grain and is constant with the texture.
Spotted Gum

  • Colour – Brown
  • Sizes available – 86x19, 130x19, 135x19
  • Description – As the tree sheds its outer strips of back, the tree is weathered which causes the soft mottled colour that is predominantly seen within the species (this weathering is where the term “spotted” comes from). The colour can range from a rich chocolate brown, grey browns to a soft cream. This species is very tough and is most commonly recognisable with its attractive wavy grain pattern.
